Ronald "Ronnie" F. Pinkney Sr.

March 16, 1952 — July 8, 2017

Ronald Francis Pinkney, Sr. (“Ronnie, Ron, or Twin”) of Bowie, Maryland passed away suddenly on July 8, 2017, at the age of 65. Ronnie was born on March 16, 1952 in Washington, D.C. to Dorothy “Dot” Pinkney and the late Carlos Pinkney. Ronnie married the love of his life, Valerie Beverly on October 9, 1992, having spent over 30 years together. But before there was Valerie, there was his twin brother, Don. If you know anything about twins, the bond between them is unlike any other and that was especially true for Don and Ron. Valerie will tell you that one of the best pieces of advice she ever got was from her sister-in-law, Karen and that was to stay out of their arguments. Valerie is forever grateful for her advice. Ronnie leaves to cherish his memory his devoted children, Ronald “Lil Ronnie” Pinkney, Navar Beverly and Shanna McGusty (Rashleigh). Ronnie loved and devoted himself unconditionally to his children. He absolutely adored his grandchildren and were so proud of them. He was immensely proud of Ronald “Baby Ronnie” Pinkney, Ladaijia Ball, Sade Ball, Rashaun McGusty, Meleke Beverly, Zakai McGusty and Diane Beverly. Ronnie also leaves to cherish his loving memory his siblings Donald Pinkney (Karen), Paul “Tracy” Pinkney, Clyde Pinkney, Renee Pinkney, Denise Leonard, Michelle Pinkney and Regina Pinkney, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Ronnie was our legend. There wasn’t a place you could go where someone didn’t know him or had a story to tell about him. His neighbors referred to him as the “Mayor” of not only his community but the communities of which he associated. Almost everyone in the neighborhood asked him about his grass and wanted his advice on how they could get their lawn like him. Ronnie was a talented and generous man. He would give his last to anyone. There wasn’t anything he believed he couldn’t fix. He believed he was better than most at softball and he was. When you had a conversation with him you had to be prepared for the conversation. You just didn’t know what you would get. He was described as a “Jack of All Trades” and on occasion he was told he was like Fred Sanford of Sanford and Son because of the junk he accumulated. If you were blessed to know him you would know that his spirit will be everlasting. There wasn’t a conversation you had with him that he wouldn’t have you laughing at either his response or his reaction as he was telling you the story. Ronnie was a passionate man about his family. That passion for life is what his family will continue to cherish and hold onto. Ronnie will be missed and will remain in our hearts and mind forever. Ronnie is gone but he will never be forgotten.
