Valentine Henry Jackson

Val was born April 12, 1946 to the late Mae Vella Jackson in Weimer, Texas. However; as the sun was rising, Thursday, August 3, 2017, God visited the Walter Reed National Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland where He picked one of His chosen flowers for the day from His Garden, Valentine Henry Jackson, Sr. (Better known as “Val”). We know that he is at rest with our Heavenly Father. After long suffering, the Lord took him from all the pains and received him to Himself where there was no pain and no burden of a tear. At his bedside, Val was surrounded by his Wife, Son, Neighbor/Nurse Mattie Smith and longtime friend, Marth Jackson-Holley. Val was a man of integrity, strength, and love. He was admired by his wife, family and friends for his tireless dedication and commitments. Val attended the Texas public school system. He left Texan to make a career in the United States Military. He joined the United States Navy and served four years-thereafter, he continued his military tenure in the United States Air Force Reserve, whereas, he retired as a Senior Master Sergeant (SMSGT). While still serving his Country, he joined the Metropolitan Police Force in Washington D.C. and later served as a Security Contractor for the Drug Enforcement Administration (“DEA”) until his health no longer permitted him to work. He was a great fisherman, which gave him the opportunity to enjoy time with some his lifetime friends. He was so proud of his catch, he clean dead gave them away to friends and neighbors because he did not have much of an appetited for fish. Val was a die-hard DALLAS COWBOYS FAN. You just would not believe the rivalry among him, his son who is also a DALLAS COWBOY fan and his wife, who is a die-hard Washington Redskins Fan. Val never strayed far from his deeply ingrained Christian values. Prior to his demise, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Val was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Louise Burns. To this Union, they were blessed with one son. This was a wonderful marriage that lasted 52 years. Val leaves to cherish his long-time love and memories, the love of his life, Louise Jackson of the home; son Valentine Henry Jackson, Jr.-Washington D.C.; Valentine III, Jasmine and Vivica and one great-grandson, Amari-Upper Marlboro; one brother, Lee Vell Phillips (Beannie) Houston, TX; two sisters-in-law Mary L. Rice-Memphis, TN; Hattie M. Wiley-Pflugerville, TX; three brother-in-law’s, George Burns (Norris)-McHenry, MS; Edward Burns-Campbell, CA; James Blue-Bakersfield, Ca; and a host of nieces, nephews, relative, other friends and a very dear friend, S.
