Vincent G. Jones

Vincent "Vinnie" Glen Jones, son of Dock E. and Blonnie M. Jones was born on August 6, 1962, in Washington D.C., and departed this life on April 27, 2017. Growing up under a military household, Vinnie attended elementary schools in Ram stein, Germany and throughout the United States. As a teenager Vinnie's parents settled down to a life in Clinton, MD. Vinnnie enjoyed playing football for Surrattsville High School, baseball for Andrews Air Force Base and spending time with his family and friends. Vinnie was an artist and sketched and painted beautiful paintings which are displayed throughout his family home. During family get togethers Vinnie enjoyed time with his parents, aunts, uncles and his cousins. Vinnie especially enjoyed eating his father's delicious ribs from the grill and his mother's apple crisp and sweet potato pies. A few things he always had a taste for were crabs, steaks and some good ole home cooked greens. Vinnie also liked to cook and wasn't bad at it either! On May 23rd 1989 Vinnie enlisted in The United States Marines and was honorably discharged from his duty on June 19th, 1992. During his military career Vinnie trained on Paris Island , was stationed in Camp Lejeune, Okinawa and served his country in Desert Storm in Kuwait. While serving his country he received The Sea Service Medal, The Meritorious Mast, The Southwest Asia Service Medal, The Kuwait Liberation Medal and The Rifle Sharp Shooter Badge. While deployed and far from home Vinnie took the time to send his parents pictures of himself and his unit. He loved the marines and represented his country and his family honor and dedication. In 1993 Vinnie worked as a Material Handler for the United States Postal Service and retired on November 15th 2015 as a postal worker. Vinnie took a special interest in representing his coworkers as a Shop Stewart. Vinnie attended union meetings and was not afraid to stand up for his coworkers rights and was proud to share his knowledge of the job with others. Vinnie was a special kind of a person who loved spending time with his family and friends. Vinnie grew up as an only child but shared a close relationship with his cousins whom he thought of more like his brothers and sisters. He was an in charge kind of guy who wasn't afraid to stand on his own. Vinnie was the type of person that could admit his faults and recognize the need for change. His life hit a few bumps and bruises, however Vinnie was committed to change and recognized his Lord and Savior . Vinnie knew the lord and worshiped alongside his parents. Vinnie will be missed dearly by his family and loved ones. Vinnie leaves to rejoice in his home going, his parents Dock E. and Blonnie Jones, Aunts and Uncles, Floyd & Brenda Moody, Ben & Wilma Moody, Charles & Geraldine Moody, William & Marcella Moody, Faulkner & Carolyn Jones, Lorenzo & Marian Jones, Inell & David Fenwick, Mary R. Reed, Gloria J Settles and a host of other family and friends. Rest well Vincent, you are with God now. Rest and lay your burdens down. We will see you again.
