ANNE JOSEPHINE RAY HOLLAND January 29, 1923 – September 19, 2021 Anne Josephine Ray Holland (aka “Nanny”) passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at her daughter’s home in Upper Marlboro. Anne is the daughter of the late Joseph Leo Ray and Lella Belle Layne. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Smith (Edwin) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, her son, James Holland of Pattaya, Thailand, and her brother, Thomas L. Stanley of Bay City, Texas. She is predeceased by her brother, Owsley Stanley (Sheilah), of Australia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sara Droneberger (Brian) of Huntingtown, Maryland, Jessica Budd (Daniel Moore) of Camp Springs, Maryland, and James Holland, Jr. of Alabama, by her great-grandchildren, Alexander Droneberger, Tyler Droneberger, Brandon Budd-Nelson, and Jasmin Moore, and by her long-time companion, Melvin Stave of Beltsville, Maryland. She was known as “Nanny” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and to all of their friends. She was dearly loved and will be missed by many. There will be a private gathering for the interment of her ashes at Resurrection Cemetery. The family appreciates all the love and support.
