Gerald Allen Marshall Gerald Allen Marshall, 66 of Lost River West Virginia, died Saturday December 14th, 2019 at his home in Washington, DC. Born March 8, 1953, in Chincoteague, Virginia, he was the son of the late Lois Jean (Carr) and James Merrill Marshall Jr. Gerald, affectionately known to all as Jerry, grew up in Greenbackville, Virginia. He attended Atlantic High School, and a brief period at Eastern Shore Community College and Chowan University in NC. After leaving home, he spent several years in Miami, Florida before relocating to Washington, DC, where he worked at the Washington Blade and eventually David M Schwarz Architects. Jerry was office manager at David M Schwarz Architects, starting in October 1986, until the time of his death. He loved his job but was looking forward to retirement or a form of it. Jerry intended to retire to his weekend home in Lost River, West Virginia. He loved “the mountains” and traveled there every Friday night, returning Sunday to get back for work. He was President of the home owner’s association for many years, stepping down to Vice-President last year in preparation for retirement and eventually leaving the board in October due to his illness. Jerry loved bike riding, traveling, photography, reading and art. Before his illness he was planning a walking tour in Portugal for the summer of 2019. He was also the “unofficial historian” of the family. He always asked questions about parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and passed this information on to his brother, sister and niece. He is survived by his partner, Albert N Hutchings of Washington DC; his Brother, James D. “JD” Marshall (Sandee Whyte) of Pocomoke City, MD; one sister, Jennifer Lynn Marshall, of Pocomoke City, MD; one niece, Alexis Lee Marshall Walls (Evan) of Millersville, MD; one nephew, Mathew Whyte of Pocomoke City, MD; a Godmother; several Aunts and Uncles, many cousins and lots of friends.
