December 1, 1939 — November 9, 2021

Jean Marie Greene, 81, of Clinton, Maryland, passed away on November 9, 2021, in Davenport, Florida. Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church in Clinton, MD, on date TBD, with the viewing at 10:00 am and funeral at 11:00 am. Pastor James Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Rd, Suitland, MD. Arrangements by Lee Funeral Homes, Clinton, Md. Jean was born on December 1, 1939, in Charles City County, Va to Chester Winfred Miles and Ethel Vernell Brown. She was the second of eight children with four surviving: Rose Pettross (Donald, Sr.) of Punta Gorda, Fl; Avon L. Miles, Sr. of Hopewell, Va; LaVerne Fuller (Michael) of Washington, D.C.; and Gail F. Johnson of Woodbridge, Va. Her husband, George M. Greene, preceded her in death. Jean was blessed with four loving daughters and a very devoted son-in-law: Natalie M. Greene of Clinton, Md; Karen M. Caldwell (Reginald) of Davenport, Fl; Dionette M. Greene (deceased); and Nicole M. Greene of Clinton, Md. She leaves behind four grandchildren that she absolutely adored; Lamarr Caldwell, Zaneta Greene, Aliyah Tillerson, and Joshua Tillerson. Jean was most proud of her three young great grandsons; Amarr Caldwell, Orion Washington, and Hunter Caldwell. Jean and Orion shared the same birthday, which she was especially thrilled. Jean was raised in a close-knit family and lived most of her childhood in Hopewell, Va. At a young age she was introduced to the church where she remained involved throughout her life. Jean attended Antioch Baptist Church of Clinton, Md, for many years and was a member of the Senior Saints Choir and enjoyed participating in weekly Bible Study sessions up until her illness. She worked for the U. S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C., her entire career from 1965 until 1995 when she retired. Jean was an excellent seamstress and excelled in her shorthand skills. She loved journaling, cruising, and vacationing, especially in Las Vegas. Jean was an outstanding cook who was well-known for her potato salad and would happily make it for anyone who asked. However she did not like chicken. We would always say to her that we didn't know anyone who doesn't like chicken with their potato salad. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and chatting on the phone or via FaceTime with her siblings. In fact, almost each day, throughout the day, Jean would call her oldest sister Rose, who also was her best friend from birth. She was overjoyed that her family and all of her siblings were able to visit her in Florida during her illness. The family would like to thank members of Antioch Baptist Church of Clinton, Md, for all of the Get-well cards, prayers, calls, and expressions of love that were continually sent to Jean and her family. A very special acknowledgment goes to Sister Grace Britt and Pastor James Jones who always took the time to call and provide words of encouragement and prayers to Jean and her family; the family will be forever grateful.
