John W. Leak Sr.

January 18, 1946 — August 25, 2018

John Willie Leak, Sr., was affectionately known as Nash, Pops, and Sam. He was born on January 18, 1946 in Rockfish, North Carolina to Eunice and Walter Leak, Sr. John Willie Sr. was called home on Saturday, August 25, 2018 to enter into his eternal life. He attended Prince George’s county public schools; Oxon Hill Elementary, and Fairmont Heights High. John worked as a park maintenance leader at MNCPPC for 28 years until he retired. John gave his family his all through encouraging words, teaching us how to be good parent’s, also showing us how to love ourselves as well as others. Pops loved cooking, especially creating his own recipes. Amongst some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, gardening, hunting and working on cars. Although his specialty was patching up the kids and grandkids with his home remedies. To have known him is a blessing. John leaves to cherish is memory, his Loving Wife of 50 years Dorothy Mae Leak, his four Children; Sherrie, John Jr., Melissa and Sean (and his beloved wife Kala). He has six grandchildren; Tanaesha, Erika, Dayesha, Jon Jr., Chai, and Talonda. Also three great-grandchildren; Haylee, Hayven, and Kelani. John also leaves behind 3 sisters, 2 brothers, 2 brother-in-law's and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death are his parents Walter Sr. and Eunice Leak; his step-father Benjamin Haley, his brother Walter Jr., and Lester.
