Karen A Downs

On Tuesday, February 18, 2020 Karen Allen Downs, beloved wife, devoted mother, and sister, passed from this world on to Glory. She was born on July 21, 1959 to parents John Merle Allen Rose Ann Allen (Piernik) in Washington, DC. She was a life-long resident of Forestville, MD. in Prince George's County and graduated from Suitland High School in 1977. Karen was married to her High School sweetheart, Brian Mitchell Downs, on January 5, 1980, a union which produced Karen,s greatest joy, her son Zachary Brian Allen Downs. Karen's love for her family and friends was evident by the enjoyment she displayed whenever she was able to spend quality time in their company, whether visiting for lunch, afternoon outings or merely sitting on her porch with friends for a chit-chat. Her gift of conversation will be missed by those closest to her. Karen also loved being in the company of her little dog, Chewie, her constant companion. Karen was also an avid reader who had a particular soft spot for anything written by Stephen King. Most importantly, she was a lover of the color orange, a fact that she would tell anyone who asked, without hesitation. Karen was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro, MD. where she attended services for 20 years. Karen was preceded in death by her parents. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Brian Mitchell Downs, her son Zachary Brian Allen Downs, her sister, Kerry Allen Callahan(Ricky), two nephews, Rick(Sarah) and Ryan (Danielle), and many friends and relatives.
