Larry L. Bennett

On Friday, March 5th, 2021, Larry Louis Bennett, devoted husband, father and granddad passed away at the age of 69. At the time of his passing, Larry was a resident of Fort Washington, Maryland. His passing was unexpected to us, but to the Lord it was the right time to call him home. Larry was born on September 5th, 1951 in Manhattan, New York to the loving parents of Robert and Henrietta Bennett. Larry enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) on October 1, 1969 and proudly served in the Security Forces both at home and abroad. On June 2, 1973, he married Alice F. Montgomery in Mons, Belgium after crossing paths during their separate tours in Europe. They raised one daughter, Denise. Larry retired from the USAF on November 1, 1989. He transitioned from military service to serving as a federal officer in the United States Capitol Police force from October 2, 1989 to December 31, 2009. In addition to a passion for law enforcement, Larry was a fitness enthusiast. He was also an avid music connoisseur and took great pride in his landscaping. Larry had a no-nonsense approach, work-hard ethic, ability to make those around him laugh uncontrollably, charismatic, full of personality, and would tell you that he was a great dancer. He belonged to the 7100 Security Police Squadron, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Big Blue 4 Life DMV organizations. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Robert, his mother, Henrietta, four brothers and a sister. He is survived by his wife Alice, his daughter Denise, his brother Hassan Bilal, beloved granddaughter Amia, and cousins, nieces, and nephews. Additionally, there are also countless close friends, far too many to mention by name that he considered a part of his family that he leaves behind.
