Laurence "Larry" Nielsen

Laurence “Larry” Robert Nielsen, age 65, of Upper Marlboro, MD passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019, after a valiant struggle with a bad heart. He was born on February 6, 1954 in Bethesda, MD to Robert Peter Nielsen and Mary Yvonne (Straub) Nielsen. Larry grew up in District Heights, MD; where he graduated from Suitland Senior High School in 1973. After graduation, he went to work for Giant Food and retired with over 30 years of service taking care of their semi truck fleet. He loved his pickup trucks, too, especially The Blue Mule and The Country Cruiser. Other favorite past times were classic cars, car races, golfing and hanging out with family and friends. When relaxing at home, he enjoyed watching Judge Judy and the Peoples Court for a good chuckle. He also liked watching football and baseball; he even attended a few Orioles games. Larry was a kind hearted soul who was always available to lend a helping hand. He was a good friend to many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Larry was a loving brother to Linda Mathis (Tommy) of District Heights, MD, Donald Nielsen (Sharon) of Upper Marlboro, MD and Jean Linville (Ron) of San Marcos, CA; devoted Uncle to Rhonda Edelen (Mike) of Faulkner, MD, Jimmy Nielsen (Jeree) of Lothian, MD, Devin Linville of Columbus, OH and Monica Linville of Long Beach, CA; and great-uncle to Abby Edelen and Samara Nielsen. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents.
