Leonard "Len" Earl Fasick, Sr.

August 20, 1939 — July 27, 2021

Leonard Earl Fasick, Sr., 81 lovingly known as “Len or Lenny” by so many, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 27th at the South River Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, MD with his daughter Lynette, playing Frank Sinatra by his side. Len and his wife Paulette of over 52 years resided in Bowie, MD for over 41 years and where they raised their four children Lynette, Lenny, Stephanie, and Jennifer. He was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania and was the oldest of three sons born to Adam Leonard Fasick and Margaret Evelyn Gibson-Fasick, and later moved to Southeast DC where he was raised. He loved taking his children fishing and for long walks on the railroad tracks behind Pointer Ridge Drive. His passion for yard sales led to him being considered one of the areas experts in “junk” collecting. His sense of humor was one that only he could pull off. So many amazing stories of his life just can’t be put in print. He gained famed recognition among his children and grandchildren for his very special rendition of the “Night Before Christmas” which he read enthusiastically each Christmas Eve to the entire family. He worked at many Hahn Shoe Stores over his 30-year career with the company, from locations in Landmark, VA; Marlow Heights, MD; K Street in Washington, DC and then as a store manager at Warwick Mall in Rhode Island; and both Laurel and Annapolis Malls in MD until the company closed in 1996. He went on to manage the shoe department at Nordstrom’s in Annapolis where he was recognized as one of their top sales performers. He ended his career in shoes at the Hessing’s in Dunkirk, MD before he retired. He always spoke fondly of the many friends he made over the years working at Hahn’s including his lifelong friends, Andy Hall, and Marty O’Connor. Len was preceded in death by both parents, and both of his brothers Ronald “Ronnie” Fasick, and John “Gibby” Fasick, and his nephew John Fasick, II. He is survived by his wife Paulette Maria Fasick of Bowie, MD; and his children: Curtis Fasick of Sterling, VA; Lawrence (Greg) Fasick of Laurel, MD; Lynette (Donald) Entzian of Lothian, MD; Leonard “Lenny” Fasick of Bowie, MD; Michelle (Chris) Nolan of Frederick, MD; Stephanie (Rick) Jenkins of Bowie, MD; Anthony “Steven” (Melissa) Orange of Chesapeake Beach, MD; and Jennifer (Chris) Fasick of Waldorf, MD; along with many grandchildren: Cassie Swisher; John Pearson; Donald “DJ” Entzian; Mackenzie Orange; Samuel “Sammy” Entzian; Chance Aldridge; Ashley Markomanolakis; Emma Orange; Alex Giglio Fasick; Andrew Giglio Fasick; Christine Markomanolakis; Sarah Entzian; and Jason Markomanolakis; as well as nieces and nephews: Vicki Fasick-Poston; Debbie Lombardi; Tressa (Mike) Suiters; and Angela Fasick; Pete Heathman; Ronald “Peanut” Fasick, II; Charles “Chuck” Carr; and Johnny Carr. He will also be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law George (Cheryl) Swan of Ashland City, TN and dear friends Barbara, Sheldon, Brian and Anna Deshong of Bowie, MD. His family would like to offer a special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and aides who took wonderful care of him at Doctor’s Community Hospital in Lanham, MD and South River Wellness and Rehabilitation Center in Edgewater, MD and to Dr. Aditya Chopra, his primary care physician of many years. A Celebration of Life is planned for Monday, August 2nd at Lee Funeral Home - Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD. The family will receive friends from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a service immediately following with Dr. Michael Lea officiating.
