Lucy Jane Neal

Lucy Jane Neal, age 92 of Silver Spring, MD passed away on April 14, 2021 at Riderwood Nursing Home. Lucy was born on August 28, 1928 in Avondale, NC to her parents; the late Grover Hoyle Tate and Mallie Eugenia [Hamrick] Tate. She was born and raised in Rutherford County, NC. Moved with her husband while he served in the military. She began her career of 40 years as a secretary with the Department of Defense. Later settled in Maryland and had one child; Susan. Lucy was very personable and enjoyed life with her hobbies of reading, cooking, walking and shopping. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry William Neal. He passed away on June 14, 2011. Lucy is survived by her daughter, Susan Blandford (David); granddaughter, Ashley Nielsen; sister, Carolyn Upton and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lucy is preceded in death by her sister, Frances Murray and brother, Hoyle Tate.
