Margaret "Ruth" Brown

January 9, 1923 — November 5, 2019

Margaret “Ruth” Brown passed away peacefully, November 5, 2019 at the Hermitage at Solomons at the age of 96. Ruth grew up in Wilmington, Delaware. After graduating high school, Ruth went to work at the nearby Fort DuPont Army Base during World War II. When Fort DuPont closed, she temporarily worked at the New Castle Air Base in Delaware. She moved to Washington, DC in 1945 to work for the Government Printing Office (GPO), where she met her husband, Roger Brown. Ruth and Roger were married for 42 years until he passed away in 1991. They shared a rich and full life filled with music, family, and friends. Ruth also enjoyed competitive bowling, crossword puzzles, and card games. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her many nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Benjamin Burke; brother, Benjamin Woodrow Burke and two sisters, Madeline Greene and Eda Burmeister. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, 2019 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane Owings, MD 20736. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Henlopen Memorial Park Cemetery 28787 Lockerman Road, Milton, DE 19968.
