Ozema Moore Jr.

December 22, 1935 — October 14, 2020

Ozema Moore, Jr. was born on December 22nd, 1935 in Olivier, Louisiana to the late Ozema Moore, Sr. and the late Ida Green Moore. He was the oldest child of 12 children. Ozema transitioned to Heaven on October 14th, 2020; joining his parents, sister, Lucy Hill, and brothers: Sonny Moore and Michael Moore. He was raised in Olivier, Louisiana. He attended Jeanerette High School and graduated in 1955. He joined the United States Navy in 1955 at the age of 19. After serving 11 dedicated years, he was honorably discharged in 1966. He attended the University of the District of Columbia and graduated with a degree in Computer Science in 1972. (Note-While at U.D.C., Ozema joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and subsequently became a lifetime member.) Several years after graduation from U.D.C., Ozema would start an illustrious career at the Department of Housing and Urban Development. He retired with numerous accolades and accomplishments in 2009. He loved the Lord and worshipped at Emmanuel Baptist Church for over 20 years until his illness. He was very passionate about his home life and doing yard work with his wife Barbara. He also loved reading and watching football-especially his beloved Redskins! He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife, Barbara Moore; his son, Shannon Moore; four sisters: Rita Holmes, Gladys (Richard) Pecante, Georgiana Taylor, Cecilia Smith; four brothers: Wesley (Charlene) Moore, Joseph Moore, Edward (Paulette) Moore and McKinley (Nancy) Moore; and two grandchildren: Shane Moore and Sandy Moore.
