Paul E. Haynesworth Jr.

June 29, 1946 — September 20, 2019

Paul Elisha Haynesworth, Jr. was born June 29, 1946 in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the parents of the late Paul Elisha Haynesworth, Sr. and the late Pearl (Reaves) Haynesworth. He was married to the late Martha Ann (Diggs) Haynesworth of Frederick, Maryland. In 1966, Paul graduated from Frederick High School in Frederick, Maryland, and shortly thereafter, enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1966 to 1977. During his enlisted years, he worked as an avionic electronics technician, he completed two tours in Vietnam, and received several awards and metals, including the National Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, honors bars, a unit citation, a Good Conduct medal with bronze clasp and two loops. His hobbies included writing poetry, hand dancing, and singing. His family will remember him as the life of the party, jovial, passionate, and caring. He leaves behind his children, whom he loved dearly, to carry his name and spirit, Paul E. Haynesworth, III and his spouse, Katrina of Hagerstown, Maryland, Marthena L. Haynesworth of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, Juanita E. Draetta and her spouse Ralph of Fairfax, Virginia, Tamara R. Haynesworth of Temple Hills, Maryland, and LaZoya King of Southeast, Washington, District of Columbia; grandchildren, Kierra L. Royster, Isaiah W. Hopkins, Jordan B. Fields, Branden J.G. Fields, D'Zion D. King, Sydney C. Draetta, and great-granddaughter, Karsyn L. Royster, and preceded in death by son, Marcus Owens; sisters, Pauleen Jackson and Shirley Braddy, and preceded in death by sister Pearlene, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two step-sisters, over 60 nieces and nephews, a wealth of cousins, and friends. May he forever rest in peace. A memorial service will be held for family and close friends on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 11:30 A.M. at 4204 Carriage Drive, Temple Hills, MD 20748.
