Sonja Faye Taylor

March 14, 1962 — May 13, 2021

Sonja F. Taylor, 59, of Lothian, MD, passed away at Medstar Southern Maryland on Thursday, May 13, 2021. Born March 14, 1962 in Los Angeles, California to Walter and Jean Linthicum, Sonja grew up in a large family, and loved having 6 siblings. She was even more ecstatic to gain the title of Aunt to so many wonderful nieces and nephews. Sonja was an Account Executive who believed in the mantra 'Work Hard, Play Harder.' She never backed down from a fun opportunity, and enjoyed sharing memories of her skydiving, parasailing, rock-climbing, and zip line adventures, among other adrenaline inducing activities. Sonja also enjoyed birdwatching, especially hummingbirds, relaxing on the beach, Hallmark movies, and completing jigsaw puzzles with her son. She will be remembered for her bubbly personality which was always on display, but even more so at gatherings where she could take her shoes off and dance. She was an amazing friend and loyal family member to everyone, but most importantly, she was an incredible Mom. Her heart and arms were always open, and her love will be eternal. She will be missed, but she will forever be our sunshine. Sonja is survived by her son, Wayne, of Lothian, Maryland, as well as her 4 brothers: Danny Linthicum of Frederick, Maryland, David Linthicum of Aldie, Virginia, Ricky Linthicum of Mulberry, Florida, and Victor Linthicum of Westminster, Maryland. She is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Mark, her parents Walter and Jean, and her two sisters, Susan Linthicum and Cheryl Dotson. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 1pm - 3pm with service to follow immediately at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736. In lieu of flowers, please consider continuing Sonja's spirit of giving by making a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society.
