Wayne "Ham" Hamilton

WAYNE M. HAMILTON was a native of Ocala, FL. He was born on July 25, 1960 to the late Allen W. Hamilton and Julia A. Hamilton. He graduated from Forest High School in 1978. On June 19, 1978 Wayne entered the United States Air Force. After basic training he went to Lowry AFB for Aircraft Armament Systems technical training. His first assignment was with the 81st Aircraft Generation Squadron (AGS) at RAF in the United Kingdom. In January 1981, he was reassigned to the 474th AGS at Nellis AFB, NV. In September 1981, Wayne judiciously retrained into the Telecommunications Systems Control career field. His first assignment as Technical Controller was at MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL where he assumed the position of Shift Supervisor in the Systems Control Facility. In 1985, he was reassigned to RAF Alconbury, UK working as a Circuit Actions NCO, and NCOIC of Operations. In 1988 Wayne moved to the 2045th Communications Group on Andrews AFB in Maryland as Superintendent- Systems Division. Wayne deployed to Saudi Arabia in 1990 as Sr. Systems Controller for the Joint Communications Control Center. In 1992 he was assigned to the Headquarters Defense Nuclear Agency in Virginia. In 1996 he moved to the 45th Communications Squadron at Patrick AFB. While at Patrick he excelled as Superintendent-Systems Control Facility. In 1998, he accepted what became his final assignment at Headquarters AETC at Randolph AFB, TX, where he was handpicked to join the SC staff as Superintendent-Command C4 Systems Management. His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Air Force Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short and Long Tour Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Saudi Arabian Government (Golden Palm), Joint Service Achievement Award, Air Force Longevity Service Award and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon. Wayne retired from the military in 2000. From 2000-2005, he went on to work as a Systems Manager for Aeronautical Radio Inc. in Annapolis, Maryland. From 2005-2018 he transitioned over as an Operations Manager for Rockwell Collins/ARINC. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife of 33 years: Helen E. Hamilton, Two children: Wayne M. Hamilton lI and Briana L. Hamilton, Mother: Julia A. Hamilton, Two sisters: Wanda Turner of Belleview and Winifred Hamilton of Ocala, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
