Alice Copeland

Alice Faye Stiltner Copeland, 84, of Brandywine, Maryland, passed away on July 25, 2026. Born May 23, 1942, she loved her friends and family with all her heart, serving as the cornerstone of our family and anchoring us with her strength, grace, and unwavering faith.

For 49 years, she made her house in Brandywine a true home- a warm, welcoming place where she and her husband Bobby raised their two daughters. She filled that home with hospitality, regularly entertaining family and friends with an open door and a generous spirit. Outside, she poured her love into gardening, while indoors she found quiet joy and wisdom in reading. She also loved to travel, frequently taking trips to attend concerts and visiting her cherished family across the miles.

Her deep love for children extended beyond her own family; for 20 years, she opened her heart and home in Brandywine to care for neighborhood children. Once her girls were grown, she channeled this passion into her career, serving her community with dedication as a paralegal with the Support Collection Unit inside the Prince Georges County government, ensuring children received the advocacy they deserved.

A deeply religious woman, her faith was her foundation. She lived her beliefs through active ministry at her church, where she brought joy to the baby nursery and shaped young minds teaching Sunday School, VBS, and leading Children’s Church with her husband. She was also involved with “TOUCH”, a special group of women dedicated to writing and sending encouragement cards. Through these letters, she brought comfort, hope, and vital connection to church members who were ill, facing hardships, or no longer able to attend services.

To know her was to understand the true depth of devotion. As a daughter, she honored her roots; as a wife, she built a lifetime of shared dreams; as a sister, she was a lifelong companion; and as a grandmother, she was a source of warmth, pride, and wisdom. Her 84 years were defined by her nurturing spirit, her compassionate heart, and her selfless service to others. She will be missed beyond measure, but her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of everyone she knew.

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Michele Jett and her husband Tom, and Pam Widmayer and her husband Charlie; her cherished grandchildren, Lita Armbrester, Paige Jett, Kate Jett, and Travis Armbrester; her beloved sister Brenda Myers; and loving nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Copeland, her parents, Hattie and Fred Stiltner; her sisters, JoAnn Scammell, Pearl McClanahan, and Ruby Keen, and her brothers, Wayne Lowe, Billy Stiltner, Tex Stiltner, and Denver Stiltner.
