Anita Christine Dixon

Anita Christine Dixon of Clinton, MD died on January 14, 2022 at the age of 87. Born in New York on May 7, 1934, one of three children to Asterope Prodis Parris and Harry Parris. Anita grew up in Brooklyn, NY enjoying Coney Island, running into movie stars and working in New York City. Anita was attending a dance in New York where she met her husband, Joseph Thomas Dixon. They immediately liked each other and married on October 15, 1955. Anita set up home in New York until Joe was discharged from US Navy in 1957. From there they moved to the Washington, DC area and then to PG county where they finally settled in Clinton in 1968. Anita loved being a wife, mom, grandmother, daughter, aunt and friend. Anita was a healer and a giver – always thinking of others and worried about others over herself. For many years, Anita did duck pin bowling and would be at every sport practice and ball game. Anita loved shopping, talking with her kids daily, watching Jeopardy, going to casinos, cruising on a big ship with Joe and their friends, talking on the phone, going out to dinner and just hanging out with her family. She loved hearing stories about what was happening in her children and grandchildren’s lives. Anita also loved watching sports including the Redskins, Nats and Yankees. Beloved wife for 62 years of the late Joseph T Dixon; devoted father of Joseph R. Dixon of Clinton, MD, Doreen L. Dixon Bell (John W. Bell) of Shady Side, MD, Suzanne K. Tutwiler (Tony Tutwiler) of Cary, NC and Denise A. Bong (Russell Bong) of Hamilton, VA; dear sister of the late Dee Wagner and the late Harry Parris; sister in law to Angela Parris and Bernard Leo Dixon; sister in law to the late Fr. James Isadore Dixon; loving grandmother of Ashley Nicole Dixon of TX, John W. Bell, V of Manchester, MD, Gina Anita Bell of Baltimore, MD, Tiffany Nicole (Tutwiler) Krohl of Cary, NC, Christopher Joseph Tutwiler of Raleigh, NC, Anthony Thomas Tutwiler of Cary, NC and Max Dixon Bong of Hamilton, VA. For those desiring, contributions in memory of Anita may be made to the American Heart Association, Clinton MD Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of your choice. Burial will take place at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD on February 18, 2022 at 11:15 am.
