Annie Louise Bradley, affectionately known as “Ma” or “Mother Bradley,” was born on October 22, 1933, in Washington, D.C., and peacefully entered eternal rest on January 10, 2026, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
Annie was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Reynolds and John Mullins, and the beloved middle child among her siblings. She was raised with a foundation built on humility and faith — values she carried throughout her life. Annie was married to the late James Bradley. She lived a beautiful life, raising eight children.
Annie was known for her determination, professionalism, and heart for service. She retired from the United States Federal Government after a distinguished 25-year career with the Department of the Navy, the Carderock Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC), Maryland, where she served diligently and with pride.
After retiring from federal service, Annie continued her commitment to helping others by joining the Hospital for Sick Children, Pediatric Center (Foster Grandparent Program) in Washington, D.C. There, she found deep fulfillment in supporting children and families in need of care and comfort. She served faithfully until her second retirement in June 2019 at the remarkable age of 86 — a testament to her steadfast spirit and love for her work.
Family was at the heart of everything Annie did. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother — a matriarch who led with strength and love. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of home-cooked meals that brought everyone together. She was the heartbeat of her family, a wise counselor, nurturer, and constant source of encouragement.
Annie will be lovingly remembered by her children: Ronald, Barbara, Sylvia (Johnny), Tyrone (Tangela), Michael (Cindy), Diane, and Gary (Taneesa). She is preceded in death by her daughter, Joanie Bradley, her daughter-in-law, Belinda Bradley, and her son-in-law, Reginald Burley.
Annie is also survived by her devoted siblings, Samuel Reynolds and Georgiana Johnson. Her loving legacy extends to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom benefited from her wisdom and unwavering support. Annie's impact reaches beyond her immediate family, leaving behind many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who will carry her memory in their hearts. To all who knew her, she was more than just “Ma”—she was a steady light, a trusted confidante, and a true example of grace.
Annie’s life was guided by her deep and abiding faith. As a devoted member of Life Builders D.C. Church of God in Washington, D.C., she served God faithfully and joyfully. Her faith wasn’t simply expressed in words, but in the way she lived — always extending kindness, serving others, and reflecting the love of Christ in all that she did. She delighted in fellowship with her church family and faithfully supported charitable organizations and causes that helped those in need.
Annie believed in celebrating life. She delighted in good food, found joy in traveling, and loved the simple pleasures — from family gatherings filled with laughter to a favorite movie on a quiet night. She enjoyed sharing old stories and wisdom for every situation in life. Her warm smile, easy humor, and comforting presence made everyone feel at home.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend. Though she has departed this life, the seeds of kindness she planted will continue to bloom for generations to come. Her absence leaves a quiet space that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
