Arla Joan Webb, age 79, of North Beach, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 30, 2026.
She was born on December 10, 1946, in Hudsonville, MI, the daughter of the late William J. Dean and Lois Dean (Mills), later Wierenga.
In 1965, Arla married the love of her life, Robert Paul Webb. Together they shared fifty- seven years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories.
Arla enjoyed a rewarding career spanning more than 30 years at Howard Community College. She began as a part-time cashier in the college bookstore and, through her dedication and talent, took on increasing responsibilities, ultimately serving as Director of Auxiliary Services. During her time at the college, she also coordinated several golf tournaments benefiting the Howard Community College Educational Foundation.
Arla brought creativity, organization, and joy to everything she did. She was especially known for the beautiful and imaginative display windows she created for the college bookstore—each one thoughtfully designed and eagerly anticipated. She and her colleagues also embraced fun and community, often dressing up together for Halloween, a tradition she delighted in over the years.
She had a special love for cats and lovingly raised and nurtured many a lucky cat over the years, taking great joy in their companionship.
Above all, Arla cherished her family. She was a proud and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, and she found her greatest joy in the time and memories she shared with them. Her warmth, thoughtfulness, sense of humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
Arla is survived by her son, Robert Sean Webb (Linda); her daughter, Heather M. Hulen (Ron); her brother, Gregg Dean (Chris); and her sister, Merideth Smedley.
