Charles Cornell Butler

Charles Cornell Butler, 73, of Clinton, Maryland, passed peacefully Thursday, February 12, 2026. Charles was born to the late James and Mary Butler November 15, 1952, at Freedmen's Hospital in Washington, D.C. He was raised in Forestville and Upper Marlboro and graduated from Suitland Sr. High School in 1970. Charles was married to Laura Lanham from 1973 - 1981 and together they shared three children; the late Robert (Bo) Joseph, Anthony Butler, Michelle JoAnne Butler, and James Cory Butler.

Charles faithfully worked for the U.S. Postal Service from September 10, 1977, to June 1, 2004. He started as a mail handler, then equipment operator, and lastly as a group leader before he retired. Charles also served as an usher at Fed-Ex Field for the Redskins and other stadium activities from its opening in 1997 until 2006.

Charles truly loved his children. He had spent many years separate from their lives and was so happy to reconnect with them after his retirement.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, Inc., Clinton, Maryland, Friday, February 27, 2026 from 2:00 pm- 4:00 pm with memorial services beginning at 4:00 pm.
