Charles Edward Lawrence, Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Edward Lawrence, Sr., affectionately known as Charlie, who departed this life on December 8, 2025, at the age of 50. Born on December 5, 1975, in Washington, D.C, to Mark and Karen Lawrence, Charlie was a beloved son, devoted husband, and a cherished father and grandfather. 

Charlie grew up in the vibrant community of Bowie and graduated from Tall Oaks High School. From a young age, he dedicated his life to serving others, beginning his journey as a volunteer at the West Lanham Hills Fire Department Co. 28 at the age of 16. His commitment to the fire service and a dedicated member of the Local 77, reflects the generous spirit with which he approached life and the importance he placed on community and camaraderie. 

Charlie is remembered for his unwavering love for his wife, Debrah Lawrence, and their three children: Chelsea Lawrence, Melanie Cannon (Nick), and Charles Lawrence Jr. (Navy E-2). He cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Aubrey Lawrence, Adalynn Urness, and Jacob Cannon, who brought immense joy to his life. His legacy of love will live on through them and the countless lives he touched throughout his journey.

Charlie's warmth and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by his parents, Mark and Karen Lawrence, as well as his extended family, including a network of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who felt his kindness and compassion. He is predeceased by his beloved brother Sean Kennedy Lawrence, maternal grandparents Marlene and Lloyd James, paternal grandparents Robert and Norma Jean Lawrence, mother-in-law Margaret Johnson, uncle Don E. Lawrence, and aunt Sherry Fabella. 

A memorial gathering will take place on December 15, 2025, at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, located at 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736. Family and friends are invited to join us from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to celebrate Charlie’s life, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private. 

In this time of reflection and remembrance, we invite all who knew and loved Charlie to share their cherished memories and anecdotes, honoring a life of service, love, and dedication. May his enduring spirit guide us as we celebrate his remarkable life.
