Christian Devi Wood departed this life and was received into God’s loving arms on July 23, 2026. Christian was born August 8, 1964, at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC to the late Allen R. Wood, Jr and Lillie Bush Wood. Christian has been affectionally known as Towie since being nick named by a Hawaiian friend of his dad while just a week old.
Towie graduated from Oxon Hill High School in Oxon Hill MD in 1983. His adolescent years were formulated during his time growing up in the Pomeroy Gardens neighborhood of Southeast, Washington, DC, and the Kennebec complex in the suburbs of Oxon Hill, MD.
Towie did not stop taking college courses, his main passions in life were reading, learning and knowledge. He obtained college degrees from Towson State University and Tesst College of Technology. He attended Norfolk State University in Norfolk, VA, where as a student he disc jockeyed at radio station WNSB. Towie was accepted into Hampton University’s Aviation Program to become an Air Traffic Controller but removed himself due to his military injuries. He has multiple certificates from various schools including an engineering license from Baltimore Community College in 2013. Towie was an avid reader who during his college school years was inducted into the National Honor Society.
Towie served in the United States Air Force for two years and six months, where he was ranked a Senior Airmen and assigned to the duty of Airlift Aircraft Maintenance Specialist where he worked on Fighter Jets. He was scheduled for deployment to the Middle East to participate in the Desert Shield/Desert Storm war conflict when he was injured in an accident that caused him to be Honorably Discharged, becoming a Disabled American Veteran. After recovering from his injuries, Towie ultimately obtained a career job with the United States Postal Service where he served for nearly 30 years responsible for maintaining various operations of the building as a notably recognized and awarded employee for his knowledge and skills.
Our beloved Towie is survived by his mother, Lillie B. Wood, brothers, Christopher (Rodonna) Wood and Allen Hines, nephew, Marlowe Wood, two nieces, Christyana Wood and June Nicole Winters, great nephew, Jordan Winters, uncle, Gregory Bush, aunt’s, Peggy Woodard, Ann (Ralph) Brickley, Jean Wheeler, Alta Wright-Booth, Paulette Privott (George), and a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and classmates.
