Colleen Basaman - A Clean Sane Nobleman
After graduating from Notre Dame Academy, Middleburg, VA in 1981, Colleen attended the University of Maryland, during which time she was an exchange student at the University of London, 1983-1984. She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1986 with a degree in British Literature.
Colleen was an Anglophile, a writer, a computer geek, and wickedly funny. She had a playful personality and, like most in our family, she was able to find humor in almost any situation.
She loved the color Pink, Black Cats, Llamas, Shakespeare, Sting, 80s Music, and GEORGE CLOONEY.
Ever adventurous, Colleen loved to travel when she could. She visited Hawaii, England, Ireland and also had the opportunity to see the unique geography of Iceland.
Animals were her weakness. Colleen could not stand to see them suffer and often took in discarded pets. She made sure that feral cats in her neighborhood were spayed by a local feral cat organization.
Colleen was passionate about genealogy and did extensive work on the family tree. She researched the census, documents and news clippings and made contact with newly found relations in Ireland, England, Eastern Europe and throughout the United States. She even found a relative in Iceland!
She was kind, supportive, and generous of heart - no one could ask for a better friend or sister.
In lieu of flowers, Colleen wished for donations to her favorite causes: Planned Parenthood and the Charles County Humane Society.
