It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Columbus Clayton Hodo, Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Columbus passed away peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 75.
He served honorably for 22 years, achieving the rank of Command Sergeant Major and earning multiple medals throughout his distinguished military career. Columbus dedicated his life to both his family and his country, serving with valor during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he continued to protect and serve through a career with the United States Secret Service, safeguarding multiple presidents and vice presidents.
Columbus was a loving husband to his wife, Rita, a devoted father to his children Erik, CC, and Cylda, and a proud grandfather to Erik Jr., Chelsea, Caleb, Clayton, and Croix. His legacy of service, sacrifice, and love will be remembered by all who knew him.
He is survived by his sisters Margaret Nash, Juanita Ross, and Dorthy Hodo. Along with his step children Deshan, Kevin, and Danielle. Step grandchildren Jaden and Chadell.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Lee Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10a -12p with the service to follow.
