On July 9, 2023, Denise Brown was tragically taken from this life. She began her earthly journey on July 23, 1962, born to Judith and the late Anthony Chaconas. Denise spent her childhood in Landover, Maryland before her family moved to Calvert County in the 1990’s. In 2004, she met Brian Loy. They went to marry on Valentines Day in 2006. Denise spent her days as a bus driver for Prince Georges County Public Schools and Charles County Public Transportation. She dedicated herself to helping others. She often said that it fed her soul. She had a knack for only seeing the good in people. It was her strong faith in God that helped her through her own struggles and comforted her in hard times. Denise always made time for her family. She loved being a Mom to her three children and later Stepmom to three more. Family time spent with Denise could include shopping, eating crabs, or just being together. She didn’t shy away from big projects either. She taught herself how to build her own front porch, back deck, fence her yard, and replace her flooring inside her house! In addition to those projects, she opened her heart and home to many rescue animals over the years. Her relaxed spirit made her a wonderful Grandmother. She loved her grandchildren with all of her being. Though her passing was sudden, her family takes solace in knowing that she lived her life always being fully present in every moment. She is greatly missed. Her legacy of love lives on with her mother, Judith Cotter; husband, Brian Loy; children, John Jumalon and his wife, Abby, Stacy Brown, and her husband, Brian, and Nicole Cook, and her husband, Bradley; stepchildren, Tiffany Loy, Garrett Loy, and the late Brian Loy, Jr., grandchildren, Lacey Moore, Duffy Moore, Charley Cook, Cole Cook, Ciara Tongue, Alexis Tongue, Braceson Atkins, Kaylee Atkins, and the late Jordan Atkins.
