Donna J. McCutcheon was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She departed this earthly life on November 30, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on December 15, 1941, in Nanty Glo, PA, Donna touched so many throughout her life with her smile.
Born and raised in a small home on 40 Ivory Hill, Donna spent her formative years surrounded by family and friends and was one of ten children. Her childhood was filled with love and laughter. Once Donna graduated from high school, she ventured to Washington, DC, where she took a job with the Federal Aviation Administration. She often talked about how much she enjoyed working in the Airports office and all the fun times with her colleagues as they went dancing on the weekends. Donna loved to dance with her friends and family doing the Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, Hand Jive and Stroll just to name a few.
Donna also loved to shop and enjoyed doing crafts. She was very talented at sewing and when her daughters were young would make them matching dresses that she was very proud of. In later life, Donna worked in both the hotel and food industries. She loved cleaning and doing dishes, along with food preparation. And even though she endured many struggles in life, she always persevered and had an excellent work ethic.
Donna will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Denise Fahringer (Mike) and Stacey Wood. She was a cherished grandmother to Katelyn Fahringer, Ryan Wood (Courtney) and Danielle Gentry (Reed), as well as a proud great-grandmother to Abilene and Joanna. She is predeceased by her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Rhoades, 6 brothers and 3 sisters. She is loved by many brother and sister in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her kindness, sense of humor, and many memories filled everyone around her with love and laughter. And though she may be gone, her spirit lives in the hearts of all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate Donna's life on Saturday, January 10, beginning at 2:00 pm at Fellowship Baptist Church, 8011 Rosaryville Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. The service will be followed by a repast. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and honor her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Donna's memory to the Amedisys Foundation at www.amedisys.com. You can also mail a check or money order made payable to Amedisys Foundation to 3854 American Way, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70816.
