Eddie C. Holman, 85, passed peacefully Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Eddie was born December 12, 1939 to the late Jannie Suber and Booker T Holman in Greenwood, Mississippi.
Eddie Clarence Holman was born to Jannie Suber and Booker T Holman on December 12, 1939 in Greenwood, MS. He was the 2nd of 3 children, preceded by Booker T Jr (Sonny) and followed by Janice. Early in life Eddie and his family moved from Mississippi to Chicago.
The entirety of his education took place in the Chicago Public School System, graduating from Englewood High School January 31, 1958. He was part of and excelled at both the high school track and swim team.
He had 4 children with the late Eloise Cooper Holman - 2 sons and 2 daughters, in that order: Eddie Jr, Myron, Kimberly, and Kyme.
Following high school, in July 1958, Eddie entered the United States Air Force, where he served for 22 years and achieved the rank of MSgt. Upon graduation from basic military training, he was stationed at Hahn Air Force Base in Germany. The majority of his service, 18 of 22 years, until retirement, took place between Bolling and Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC but his military service allowed him to travel around the world.
He served in the Vietnam War from September 1970 - August 1971 at Bien-Ho Airbase in the Republic of Vietnam. Roles held while in service were airborne radio operator, administration technician, and precision measuring equipment superintendent.. Some accommodations received were the Bronze Star, AF Good Conduct Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. He was also part of the Andrews Air Force Base Championship Softball Team.
Following his military retirement, Eddie started his second career at the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (METRO) where he worked for 20 years until the year 2000.
He worked as an Asset Management Officer, Quality Assurance Supervisor and Specialist, and Electronic/Calibration Technician. Notable achievements are the creation and implementation of the METRO Modification/Configuration Control Program that ensured conformance with engineering design specifications.
After retiring from the METRO, Eddie earned his Real Estate license. He was part of a short list of agents licensed in Maryland, DC, AND Virginia. He indulged in his passion for golf, frequenting courses and driving ranges all over. His knack for electronics fueled his interest in keeping up with all the latest technology from cameras to computers and the alike.
He could always be found testing the latest hardware, Eddie was also a cinema buff. If there was a new movie or tv show, he had seen it. If he liked something, he encouraged you to watch, and if he didn't like it, he was giving away the movie to his next visitor. As far as music goes, he listened to it all. He loved a good vocalist but all who know him associate one song with his personality - Mark Morrison's Return of the Mack.
Everyone knows Eddie loved his cars. In his early years he was known as the Corvette man with personalized plates and was one of the original members of the Corvette Club. Later on he was known for his Cadillacs and with his final few vehicles he came full circle with his time served in Germany and sported a Mercedes-Benz. Aside from his toys, Eddie spent a lot of time with his friends and family, whom he was not shy to pass on his knowledge, share stories of his younger days, or just talk golf, tennis, music, politics, or women's basketball.
Eddie is predeceased by his parents, Booker T and Jannie, his older sibling Booker T Jr (Sonny) and his wife Alice, his younger sister Janice and her husband Homer, his eldest son Eddie Holman Jr., and his former wife and mother of his children Eloise Holman.
He is survived by his children Myron, Kimberly (Roland), and Kyme, his grandchildren Myron Jr., Brittany, Eleanora, Christopher, E'Nya,and Dillan-Jace, a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren, along with special friends Victoria and Bonnie.
Friends and family are welcome to gather at Lee Funeral Home, Clinton, MD, Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 4pm with funeral services beginning at 5pm. Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Tuesday, November 25 at 1:00 pm.
