Elsie Jane Newman

Newman, Elsie J.On July 14, 2001, at Fairfax Nursing Center; a resident of Washington, D.C. since 1930. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Howard E. Newman, a Washington, D.C., surgeon. She was born in Hendersonville, N.C. and came to Washington in 1930 to study nursing. She received her degree from Capitol School of Nursing at Gallinger Hospital and practiced nursing until the 1980's. She is survived by one sister, Sallie Rhodes, of Hendersonville, N.C., a brother-in-law, Raymond A. Newman, of Silver Spring, MD, and several nieces and nephews.
