Eugene M. Rashlich, 84, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, passed away peacefully at Southern Maryland Hospital Center, Monday, April 13th, 2026. Eugene "Gene", was born November 16, 1941 in Miners Hospital in Spangler, PA, to the late Martin and Anna Grace Rashlich.
Gene grew up in Ebensburg, Pa. then moved to Suitland, Md. in 1961. He was a graduate of Central Cambria High School in Ebensburg, Pa. in 1959. He furthered his education at Cambria Rowe Business College with emphasis on computer programming and data processing graduating in 1960. He worked for the U.S. Government working in the Census Bureau for over forty years.
Gene was a stamp collector and enjoyed going to antique crystal shows. He was a member of several organizations including; the Knights of Columbus for over fifty years, a Docent at the Smithsonian Museum for over forty years, Williamsburg Estates Citizens Association, District 5 coffee club, the Lunch Bunch of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church and Advisory Council Volunteer especially on National Night Out.
He was a people person loved by all, and spent hours of his day on the phone catching up with friends and family and always kept the conversation going. His favorite vacation spot was Cancun, Mexico and spent several weeks a year with family and new friends at the swim-up bar drinking tropical drinks.
He was preceded in death by parents, Martin and Anna Grace (Smithbower) Rashlich, brother John W. Rashlich and numerous Aunts and Uncles.
Gene is survived by his brother Duane J. Rashlich and wife Evelyn "Judy", nieces Michelle Rashlich and daughter Kaiya Snowfleet, of Boynton Beach, Florida and Stacy Nimas (Jim) and nephews Matthew and Ryan of Allentown, Pa.
Services will be held on May 8, 2026, at Most Holy Rosary Church/St. Joseph's Center, 11700 Duley Station Road, Upper Marlboro, Md, with visitation from10:00 am to 11:00 am, and a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: Most Holy Rosary Church, 11704 Duley Station Road, Upper Marlboro, Md. 20772.
