Gary Steven Shifler, 60, of Clinton, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2026.
Gary loved his family deeply and cherished every opportunity to be surrounded by the people he loved. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to have fun. Family gatherings were his favorite time, where he could laugh, let loose, play games, enjoy a game of cornhole, and sometimes even dance with his sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gary lived with his mother, Sharon Weber, and shared a special bond with her. He took great pride in helping his mom and worked several jobs over the years. One of the jobs he was especially proud of was landscaping at his mother's home. He made sure everyone knew about the work he had done and took great pride in keeping her yard looking good.
Gary had a special relationship with his many cousins and always made an effort to stay in touch, no matter how far away they lived. He was also the family's unofficial birthday keeper, remembering everyone's birthdays and always knowing exactly how everyone was related.
Gary was a devoted Buffalo Bills fan and made sure everyone knew it whenever the Bills won. He had hats, jackets, shoes, and plenty of other Bill’s gear. We recently learned that his love for the Bills may have started for a very important reason—he loved Buffalo wings!
Gary is survived by his mother, Sharon Weber; his sisters, Patti Nichols (Rocky), Nikki McMahon (Brendan), and Rachale Van Wicklen (Andrew); and his brother, Ryan Shifler; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other loved ones who were blessed to know him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Shifler, step-Father Bill Weber, his sister, Shelley Hall, brother-in-law Tom Hall; as well as his grandparents, Bernice and Matt Bennie, Sybil Kovacs and husband Steve, and grandfathers Bob McCarthy and Hubert Shifler.
Gary will always have a special place in the hearts of everyone who loved him. We will miss his laughter, his humor, his stories, and the way he brought our family together.
I find comfort in knowing that Gary is now at peace.
