George Salvador DeTurris

George Savadore DeTurris 

September 22, 1948 – April 20, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of George Savadore DeTurris, who left us peacefully on April 20, 2025, at the age of 76. Born and raised in New York, NY, George was the beloved son of the late John DeTurris and Sophie (Gastka) DeTurris.

George devoted his professional life to helping others, working in both Special Education and Physical Education. His compassion, patience, and dedication touched the lives of countless students and families over the years. Outside of the classroom, he was an avid supporter and proud member of the Campbell Baseball community, where he found joy in coaching, mentoring, and being part of a team.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Pamela “Dawn” (Miller) DeTurris, with whom he shared a life filled with love, laughter, and partnership. George was a proud and loving father to Christopher and Jamie DeTurris, and Tony DeTurris, and a cherished grandfather to Christopher and Bella. He also leaves behind his siblings, John “Sonny,” Mary Lou, and Irene, with whom he shared lifelong bonds and memories.

George will be remembered for his kindness, his unwavering support of family and community, and his steady, quiet strength. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to a charity close to your heart in George’s name—a gesture that would honor the giving spirit he carried throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed.
