George Raymond Wells, of Huntingtown, MD, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2025. George was born on November 9, 1957 to the late Albert “Bossy” Wells and late Nancy Brashears Wells in Annapolis, MD. He was raised alongside his brother, Albert “Bill” Wells in Upper, Marlboro, MD. Growing up, their family of four spent every summer on the Chesapeake Bay at their beach home in Holland Point. George moved to Calvert County, MD in 1990, where he lived the remainder of his life on his beautiful horse farm in Huntingtown, MD.
George, a man full of life, first discovered his passion for adventurous entrepreneurship at his family operated liquor store. From there, he was inspired to open his own restaurant businesses, which included Cape Hatteras Seafood in Upper Marlboro, MD, Crabby Ray’s Seafood Truck off of Route 4, Charlotte Hall House of Ribs in Charlotte Hall, MD, and Boomerangs, formerly known as Adams Ribs, in Solomon’s, MD.
George’s other passions included raising, training and racing thoroughbred horses. He spent time doing so in Maryland, Delaware and Florida.
George eventually opened his horse farm to give a beautiful space for other horses and farm animals to roam happily and live safely. He gave his two favorite residents, his dogs, Havoc and Duke an extra special life there.
George loved and welcomed his friends and family to his Huntingtown property too. Always hosting gatherings for everyone to enjoy.
He furthered used his hosting skills to give back to the community. George hosted many casino night themed events to raise money for local fire departments and charities.
Throughout his life, George was known to put a smile on everyone’s face. His big heart, high spirits and ‘life of the party’ personality will always be cherished and remembered dearly by his friends and family.
George was predeceased by his father Albert “Bossy” Wells and mother Nancy Brashears Wells. He was survived by his brother Albert “Bill” Wells, nephews Ryan Wells and Jared Wells (wife Victoria), aunts Anna Thompson and Marylou Tayman, uncle Benjamin Brashears, Jr., lifetime companion and best friend Sheila Whitney, and many loving cousins and friends.
The Family will receive friends on Friday, June 13th, 2025 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm for a memorial visitation gathering, followed by a memorial service from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at Lee Funeral Home located at 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736.
