Hearl William "Bill" Folland, Sr.

Hearl William (Bill) Folland SR, born on July 27, 1936 peacefully passed from this life on April 28, 2022 at his home in Owings, MD surrounded by his family.

Bill is survived by his beloved partner Ann Hawkins of Owings, MD and his five children; William Joseph (Bill) of Torrington, CT; Brenda Lee Biggs and husband Glenn of Fruitland Park, FL; Hearl (Sam) William JR and wife Phyllis of Mt. Airy, MD; Kimberle Diane Madsen and husband Larry of Torrington, CT; and Shawn Nicholas of Pasadena, MD. Bill is also survived by many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Diane (nee Pickert), his son Jeffrey Michael, his parents Leona and Jack Folland, his sisters Claudine, Velgean, Mearl, Blanche, Peggy, and his brother Douglas.

Bill was born and grew up in Richmond, VA. He left school early to help support his family and assisted in their moving to Oxon Hill, MD. It was there that he met Diane Pickert, and once married, moved back to her hometown in Connecticut. Bill was a great family man and a loving father. When Diane passed from this life, Bill returned to Maryland and later met his partner Ann Hawkins with whom he has enjoyed the last 18 years.  He worked hard his entire life, and retired when he was 80 years old. He enjoyed working on just about everything mechanical, especially automobiles; he also loved doing yard work; and his biggest passion was watching his beloved Washington Redskins. His family and friends will always remember him as a hard working man that would always help anyone in need.

Visitation will be on Friday 06 May 2022 from 10:00-12:00 at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 with a Funeral Service to follow.  Interment will be at Southern Memorial Gardens, 10155 Ward Road, Dunkirk, MD 20754 following the service.  

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Calvert Hospice (calverthospice.org).
