Ida Mae Loriso

September 23, 1940 — June 6, 2025

Ida Mae Loriso’s obituary paints a vivid picture of a woman who lived a life rich in love, family, and resilience. Born on September 23, 1940, in North Carolina to Lizzie Mae and George W. Weston, she grew up as the second of seven children in a farming family, embracing the challenges and rewards of that life. After high school, she struck out on her own, a bold move that led her to meet her soulmate, Anthony Loriso, during a bowling night with friends. Their 63-year marriage was a cornerstone of her life, filled with devotion and shared joy in raising their two children, Phyllis and Mark.

Ida Mae was the heart of her family, excelling as a wife, mother, and homemaker. Her talents as a cook, seamstress, and gardener created a warm, welcoming home, and her knack for fostering family traditions brought everyone together—grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even friends who had nowhere else to go on holidays. Her love for family gatherings reflected her deep-rooted belief that nothing mattered more than those connections.

Her vibrant personality left a permanent mark. Known for her beautiful smile, infectious laugh, and quirky “coffee swishes,” Ida Mae had a zest for life that shone through in her passions: treasure-hunting for bargains, playing word games and bingo, standing firm in her convictions, and showering love on children and babies. These small but meaningful traits will be deeply missed by her family.

Ida Mae is survived by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Phyllis Jones (Aubrey); son, Mark Loriso (Lori); granddaughters, Jennifer Backes (Adam), Lauren Stephens, and Tyler Jones; great-grandsons, Tristan Stephens, Conor, and Tucker Backes; and siblings, Julie Smith (Tommie), Virginia Lanier (Harvey), and Bryan Weston (Karen), sister-in-law, Carol Weston. Preceded by Shirley Weston, George C. Weston, Mary Kennedy and her husband Jerry.

Ida Mae Loriso passed away peacefully at her home in Owings, MD, on June 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and togetherness.
