Janet Elaine Miller, 63, of Clinton, Maryland, passed peacefully at her home with her husband and daughters by her side, Thursday, March 5, 2026, after a courageous, long battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Janet was born July 24, 1962, in Washington, DC to the late Chandler and Alice Dunston. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother whose warmth, strength, and kindness touched everyone who knew her. Janet was married for 40 years to the love of her life, Rick Miller. They built a loving home with their three daughters Rachel, Lauren, and Casey and together they had it all. As a mother, she poured her heart into raising her three daughters, guiding them with patience, wisdom, and endless love. Her greatest joy later in life was becoming a grandmother whom she was known to as Gaga. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Beyond her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother, Janet was a dedicated employee of Mona Electric for 43 years. Janet built so many relationships over her years at Mona with so many amazing people whom she cherished as life long friends.
Janet was a woman of her faith and a devoted Catholic whose faith never wavered regardless of her battle with cancer. She loved shopping, enjoying the sun at the beach and pool, taking trips with her husband, and making memories on the farm with her family.
Janet faced her illness with remarkable grace, determination, and quiet strength that inspired everyone around her. Even on her hardest days, she found ways to comfort others, share a smile, or offer words of encouragement. She taught her loved ones that love endures every trial, and that hope can shine through the darkest moments.
Her legacy lives on in every family gathering and future memories made, through the family she loved so deeply. She will be forever missed, forever loved, and forever remembered as the wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who showed us how to live and how to love with courage, hope, and peace.
Janet was predeceased by her father, Alpheus Chandler Dunston and mother, Alice Irene Dunston.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Richard "Rick" Miller, her three daughters, Rachel Emshwiller (Tony), Lauren Skalamera (Nick), Casey True (Alex), her four grandchildren Adriana, Tyson, Sophia, and Owen, and her brother Dale Dunston (Lynn).
A Memorial Mass will be held to celebrate Janet’s life, Thursday, March 12, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 8908 Old Branch Ave, Clinton, Maryland, 20735. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am with Mass at 11:00 am.
