Jeanne H Kennedy

Jeanne Higgins Kennedy passed away peacefully at her home on February 2, 2026, after bravely facing multiple health challenges over the years. Even in her final days, Jeanne maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and expressed gratitude for her long life, full of wonderful and varied experiences.

Jeanne was born in September 1946 in Panama, South America, to George and Ethelind Higgins. The third child of a submariner, she often joked that even after more than seventy years in the Northeast, she never quite adjusted to winter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Bill and Paul.

Jeanne’s life was filled with stories - of family, travel, work, laughter, and the many unique experiences she joyfully shared with her treasured friends. Those who knew her will forever carry those memories in their hearts.

She is survived by her three children, Alex, Nic, and Chris; twelve grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Our beloved matriarch, affectionately known as “Lala,” treasured her family above all else. We are profoundly grateful for the time we were blessed to share with her.

A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, February 19, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a service following on Friday, February 20, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Lee’s Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland.
