August 4, 1968 - October 8, 2026
Jeffrey Matthew Steel, born on August 4, 1968, in Washington, DC, passed away on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, cherished memories, and a family who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Jeff was the beloved son of Jon and Joan Steel, devoted husband to Michelle Steel, and loving father to Richard Steel and Daniel Steel. He was also a proud grandfather to Ritchie Steel. He is survived by his siblings, Jason Steel, Amy Kershaw (Gene Lawrence Jr.), and Adam Cunerd, along with many other family members and loved ones whose lives were made brighter by his presence.
Jeff completed his high school education and built his career working at BMW through Passport.
Our story began in 1988 when we met as servers at The Brass Lantern in Camp Springs, Maryland. Jeff always said I took him off the market when he was just 19 years old. I told him he was my lucky star. From that moment, we grew together as soulmates, building a life filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Together, we raised two extraordinary boys who were the light of Jeff's life. He loved them, his family, and those closest to him unconditionally, with all his heart. His love was deep, genuine, and unwavering, and his family was always at the center of his world.
Jeff found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved Hollywood Beach in Florida, birdwatching, tropical drinks, and, most of all, spending time with his family. These were the moments that brought him joy and created memories that will be treasured forever.
After almost four decades of love, laughter, and shared dreams, our story together on earth came to an end on October 8, 2026. Though our hearts are broken by his loss, the love we shared will never fade. The memories we created, the family we built, and the countless ways Jeff touched our lives will remain with us always. His light will continue to shine through his children, his grandchild, his family, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved him.
Rest in peace, my love. My lucky star. You will forever be loved, forever missed, and always in our hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those who wish to honor Jeff's memory to consider making a donation to a glioblastoma research fund in support of continued research and the hope of a future cure.
