Joan Scanlon

Joan Scanlon, age 89, of Huntingtown, MD, passed away peacefully on May 2nd.

Born on August 20, 1936, in Washington DC, Joan was the daughter of Theodore and Marie Tavarozzo. After graduating from McKinley Tech High School in Washington DC in 1954, she pursued a career as a secretary, working for Griffith Consumers Oil Company before getting married in 1956.

Joan was known most for her Italian cooking and unwavering kindness. She loved to do jigsaw puzzles and dedicated her life to her family.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Scanlon Jr, children, Thomas III, Maria, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Danny.

A funeral will be held on May 13th at 10am at Jesus the Divine Word Catholic Church, 885 Cox Road, Huntingtown, MD 20639. Visitation will be at the Lee Funeral Home, 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on May 12th from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm.
