It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Marvin Fealy Jr., a devoted father, brother, and friend, who left this world on September 19, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on December 31, 1944, in Washington, D.C., John dedicated his life to serving others, both as a soldier in the U.S. Army and as a Fire Chief with the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department. His unwavering commitment to his community and his fellow firefighters exemplified a spirit of selflessness that will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
John leaves behind two beloved sons, Andrew and Sean Fealy, who carry forward his legacy of courage and compassion. He was also a proud grandfather to Alexis Fealy (Javier Lemus), whose laughter and joy brought light to his life. John is survived by his dear sister, Ranleigh Payne, and his brother, Michael Fealy, both of whom will forever hold him in their hearts. He is survived by his former wife, Barbara Fealy, who shared many cherished memories of love and laughter during their years together.
A graduate of North Western High School, Class of 1962, John embarked on various career paths, beginning with Bell Phone Systems, AT&T, and C&P, while dedicating over 40 years to the fire service. His contributions were not just professional; they were a testament to his life's work as a community builder, a hero in the eyes of those he served. A member of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the American Legion, John wore many hats, yet he always grounded himself in the love he had for his community and family.
John's service to his country began when he enlisted in the Army on August 18, 1965, and he honorably served until his discharge on August 1, 1967, achieving the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (T). His military service instilled in him a deep sense of duty and resilience that he carried throughout his life.
Join us in celebrating John's life and legacy. A public viewing will be held at Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., on September 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. May he rest in peace, forever the hero-both in uniform and in our lives.
