John Johnson

John Walter Johnson, was born in Cheltenham, Maryland, on December 24, 1930, to the late John and Cora Johnson. He was the second of 11 children from this union.

After graduating from Douglass High School in June 1948, John enrolled in Cortez Peters Business School in Washington, D.C.

In 1951, John joined the United States Air Force serving four years active duty and four years Air Force Reserve, as an Aviation Management Specialist. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force, he began his career with the federal government working for various agencies.

In June 1952, John married Daisy Harrison. Two children were born from this marriage, Derek (deceased) and Deryl. John retired in 1996 from the U.S. Department of Transportation, as a Contracting Officer Supervisor in the Office of Contracts and Procurement. His career, including the military, spanned 46 years.

During his off time, John enjoyed working with his late brother, Carter, doing various jobs. John joined Top Flight Corvette Club in 2010. He was the

eldest member of the club - driving a 1990, 2004, 2008 and concluding with a 2014 Corvette Stingray. In October 2002, John married his best friend, Dianne Johnson. The two enjoyed traveling, working together in their yard, but dancing was their favorite thing. Date night was every Wednesday when the two would dance the night away at the Elks Lodge.

John leaves, to cherish his memory, his loving wife Dianne Johnson, son Deryl (Tiffany), sisters Peggy and Mary, brother Sylvester (Sylvia), bonus family: Renai, Errek (Shelly), Tamika, Tony (Allegra), Jourdan-Nicole, Athena, Ari and Kairo, a host of nieces, nephews, friends and his fur baby, Hampton. He was preceded in death by his son Derek, brothers: Howard and Carter, sisters: Justine, Margaret, Ruth, Teresa, and Evelyn.
