John Edward Yodichkas Jr

June 15, 1956 — April 14, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Edward Yodichkas Jr., who left this world on April 14, 2026, at the age of 69. Born on June 15, 1956, John was a beloved husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather, whose life was a testament to love, kindness, and generosity. Residing in Owings, Maryland, he cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He reunites with his parents John and Josephine “Jo” Yodichkas, brother Michael Yodichkas, and Sister Becki Peek, among other friends and loved ones. He is survived by loving Wife of 43 years, Marcia Yodichkas, sons Jonathan Yodichkas and wife Geri, and Joshua Yodichkas and Fiancé Judy, Brother James Yodichkas and Sister Lori Michael. John was a proud and loving grandfather to Kaiden Yodichkas and Peyton Yodichkas, who held a special place in his heart along side Mason and Carson, whom he cherished just as deeply. He valued family above all else and embraced the beauty of a blended family, where his love created bonds with his step grandkids, Johnathan, Joey, Sammie, Zachary, and James. He is further blessed with Great Grandchildren Mikayla, Brielle, Olivia and Saylor, who brought him joy.

John was a remarkable man, known for his unwavering readiness to lend a helping hand. For over 40 years, he dedicated himself to his craft as a GM mechanic, taking immense pride in his work and sharing his knowledge with his sons and grandchildren. His passion for fixing things and teaching others was just one aspect of a life lived fully and generously.

An avid lover of the water, John spent countless hours crabbing and fishing, earning the affectionate nickname “Mr. Crabs.” His love for nature extended to gardening, where he grew his beloved hot peppers, creating signature dishes and sharing his homemade hot sauce with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

John’s unwavering devotion to his family included years of supporting his sons through the rigorous world of travel ice hockey. He was a loyal fan of the Washington Capitals, finding joy in every game watched. Life's simple pleasures brought him happiness—spending time scratching off lottery tickets, enjoying a cold beer with friends and family, and the warm companionship of his beloved cats, Missy, Whiskers, and Boots.

As we reflect upon his life, we remember John for his remarkable spirit, his kindness, and the immense love he shared so freely. He will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know him.
