Joseph John Petrosino

Joseph John Petrosino, 76, passed away at his home surrounded by his family on September 16, 2024, in Tracy’s Landing, Maryland.

He was born in Amsterdam, NY to John and Louise Petrosino on Jan 17th, 1948.

He graduated from Wilbur H Lynch High School in 1965 and enlisted in the US Navy, serving honorably on the USS Forrestal (CVA 59) in Tonkin Bay, Vietnam.

After serving his country, Joe worked for IBEW as an electrician until he was hired by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission, in Washington DC until his retirement in 2011.

He married the love of his life, Marcia Wakefield, a nurse, caring for his father in the hospital. They were married on Sept 19th, 1971. He always introduced her as his first wife.

They have 3 wonderful children: Jennifer Michelle, who almost shared his birthday (missed by one day). John Lewis, his wife Stephanie, and their children, Braden James and Reid Joseph. Anthony Michael, his wife Mina, and their children, Stella Marie and Luca John. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He is also survived by his three sisters, Victoria Sollecito, Nancy Emmanual, and Mary Jayne Mancini plus several nieces and nephews.

Joe was an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, St. Paul’s Men’s Club, Damascus, MD, American Legion, and Vietnam Veterans.

He always had a shoulder to lean on for whomever might need one. His award-winning sense of humor and smile were very contagious.

He will be missed by his family, many friends, and his comrades in arms.
