Joyce Dolores Hurder

Joyce Dolores Hurder "Nana", beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in Huntingtown, Maryland, on May 6, 2026, at the age of 101. Joyce was born Joyce Dolores Sinyard on August 23, 1924, in Summit Hill, Pennsylvania. She lived a life filled with love, family, and dedication. 

Joyce married the love of her life, William James Hurder, after he returned from serving in the European theater during World War II. Together, they raised two daughters, Nancy and Brenda, nurturing strong family bonds and imparting values that continue to resonate through their descendants. Joyce was a devoted grandmother to Raymond and Rhonda Stolle, and a loving Nana to her five grandchildren: Shawn Allen Sachetti, Peter Sachetti, Matthew Smith, Brian Smith, and Erin Clifton. Her legacy is further extended through her eight great-grandchildren: Alice and Luciana, as well as Milo, Mathias, Mateo, Sunny, Lola, Faith, and Marissa, who also welcomed great-great-grandchildren Harper Chester, Nova, and Kaidan into the family. 

As an executive secretary in the union industry, Joyce dedicated her career to supporting her community through her work with the Iron Workers. Her kind heart and nurturing spirit have touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Joyce will be remembered at a funeral service to be held on May 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Lee Funeral Home in Calvert. Prior to the service, a public visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance and reflection. Following the ceremony, Joyce will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Bill, at Cheltenham Military Cemetery, a final resting place befitting their enduring love.
