Karen Marie Bennett

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Karen Marie Bennett, age 69, of Prince Frederick MD. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on June 14, 2025, just hours shy of her 70th birthday. Born in Phoenix, Arizona – raised in Maryland. Karen dedicated her life to her family and career and found strength and guidance in her unwavering faith in the lord, leaving behind an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Karen was the beloved mother of four children: Christopher John Bennett of Luxembourg, Germany; Jennifer Marie Hottle (husband Lester) of Prince Frederick, Maryland; Matthew James Bennett of Silver Spring, Maryland; and Michael Adam Bennett of Prince Frederick, Maryland. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher John Bennett Jr., Lester Lee Hottle III, and Logan Patrick Hottle, who were the light of her life.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents Adam Joseph Shanko and Clare Ann Gallagher. Along with her four brothers, Joseph, Roger, Michael and Patrick Shanko and her sister Marilou Greenwade.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karen’s remarkable life. A memorial service will be held at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 11:00am, in Wheaton, Maryland, immediately followed by Burial at Gate of Heaven, as we gather to honor a woman whose love and kindness touched so many.

In this time of sorrow, let us reflect on the memories we hold dear, and the lessons Karen imparted to us throughout her life. She faced life's challenges with grace, trusting in God's plan. She will be profoundly missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
