Lawrence "Larry" Emanuel Andes, Jr., 80, passed away on September 6, 2026, peacefully at MedStar Health Hospice of St. Mary's in Callaway, Maryland, surrounded by the love and care of those who meant so much to him.

Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lynda, his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Olivia, mother-in-law, Irene, brother, David "Dodie", nephew, Tim, brother-in-law, Douglas "Butch".

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and his family was the center of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Leigh, Janet (Robert), and Mary; and his grandchildren, Stephen (Jessyca), Nicole (Blake), Nathan, Ronald, Keleigh, Joshua, and brother, George "Mike", sisters-in-law, Kathy, Joy, and Kay, and nieces and nephew. And his personal IT support and family member, John Silcox.

Larry attended American University earning a Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice. He dedicated most of his life to serving others. He proudly served in the United States Navy before joining the Metropolitan Police Department. He retired after 20 years with the rank of Lieutenant. After retirement he continued his commitment to public service in his community as a District Court Commissioner for Calvert County. Throughout his career, Larry was a mentor and known for his strong sense of duty, compassion, and dedication to the people he served.

He enjoyed traveling and finding adventures with his close friends. An avid golfer, Larry enjoyed the game and, especially, the friendships it brought. Those who knew him will remember his fun-loving spirit, warmth, and ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him.

Above all, Larry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Although his passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him, his memory will remain in the stories his family shares, the laughter he inspired, and the many lives he touched.

His warmth and joyful personality will be remembered by everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Visitation will be held on September 12, 2026 at Lee Funeral Home in Owings, Maryland, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral services at 12:00p.m.Burial will take place at a later date in a private family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Medstar Health Hospice of St.Mary's Callaway, Md.
