In Loving Memory of Lawrence Wilfred Eckard
October 25, 1950 - June 3, 2026
Lawrence Wilfred Eckard, affectionately known to family and friends as "Boogie", passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, hard work, and love. Born on October 25, 1950, in Washington, D.C., Larry was the beloved son of Philip Henry Eckard and Marjorie Ether Eckard.
Boogie was a proud graduate of Pomonkey High School and dedicated much of his life to public service. He enjoyed a distinguished career with the Architect of the Capitol, serving the Federal Government with integrity, professionalism, and commitment for an extraordinary 43 years before his retirement. His work ethic and dedication earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Above all else, Boogie cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Redemption Eckard, and a loving father to Michael "BJ" Eckard and his wife, Randi, and to Lawre Eckard. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and watching it grow through the generations.
Boogie was a proud and loving grandfather to Elizabeth, Lucas, and Alexander, who brought immense happiness to his life. He is also survived by his brother, Lester Eckard and his wife, Cindy, and his sister, Cheryl Eckard, along with many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will forever treasure his memory.
Boogie will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication, kind heart, and the love he shared so freely with those around him. His presence brought comfort and stability to his family, and his legacy will continue through the lives of those he touched.
Though he will be deeply missed, Boogie's memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Gentiva Foundation (Heartland Hospice) in honor of Lawrence's memory.
May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
