Lola Ann Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, in La Plata, Maryland. May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who cherished her.
Born on December 13, 1938, in Washington, D.C., Lola lived a life enriched by simple joys and a deep love for her family. When not taking care of her grandchildren, she was in the kitchen cooking and baking, filling her home with the comforting aromas of her homemade spaghetti, snickerdoodles, and peanut butter cookies. Lola was always in charge of the potato salad for family gatherings! Lola enjoyed gardening so on sunny days she could be found in her yard as she nurtured her vibrant blooms and plants while the grandkids played.
Lola had a special fondness for birds and took delight in watching them from her window or while tending to her garden. She also enjoyed collecting bells—each one a cherished keepsake that reflected her appreciation for meaningful treasures. In quiet moments, she found comfort in wrapping herself in a blanket and watching the Hallmark Channel.
Lola is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Johnson III, her parents, Farrell and Annadell Oden, and her sister, Arlene Krystopik. Lola is survived by her 4 children and their spouses; Mike Johnson (Brenda), Jim Johnson (Kim), Debra Ferguson (Don), and John Johnson. She leaves behind a great legacy of 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, with number 4 on the way. She also leaves behind a sister, Carol Oden Robbins, and many cousins, nieces and a nephew, and extended family members. Her presence will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
