In Loving Memory

Lucille Dorothy Jenkins was born on September 15, 1929 in Washington, D.C. to the late Dorothy Baur and James Smith. She was quietly called home on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

Lucille married the late James Ellis Jenkins and from this union had two sons, Robert Ellis Jenkins (deceased) and Douglas Edward Jenkins (deceased).

She was educated in the District of Columbia Public School system, graduating from Eastern High School in Washington D.C. She retired from the Federal Government where she was a civilian employee with the Department of the Air Force for a number of years.

Lucille was affectionately known as “Lucy, Yia-Yia & Granny” and enjoyed football, game shows, outdoor bird watching, playing cards, road trips, cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She had three sisters Patricia McDonald (deceased), Jeannette (known as “Jeannie”) Campbell (Richard*deceased) and Linda Bochenski (Danny); two nieces Donna Hernandez and Vicky Studds; one nephew James McDonald, Jr.; devoted friends Veronica Nickens & Karen Tyler and a host of family and friends. She considered Kathy Brooke as her daughter and Dakota Jarvis as her granddaughter.

The family expresses their deepest appreciation to all for the prayers, words of sympathy and comfort during our time of bereavement. The family would also like to encourage everyone to donate to the American Cancer Society.
